About the Role

An established and respected organisation working across the UK's heritage and conservation sector is looking for a skilled and proactive SHEQ Manager. The work involves the repair, restoration, and preservation of historic buildings and monuments, with projects ranging from churches and listed civic buildings to ancient landmarks and heritage estates.

This is an exciting opportunity for a SHEQ professional to apply their expertise in a highly specialised environment — where safety, compliance, and quality must go hand-in-hand with respect for historic fabric and traditional materials.

The Role: The SHEQ Manager will lead and develop the organisation\'s Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality strategy across all projects and operations.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain SHEQ management systems aligned with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 45001, 14001, 9001)
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments across multiple live sites
  • Support site teams and specialist contractors to ensure safe, high-quality delivery within heritage-sensitive contexts
  • Deliver training, toolbox talks, and compliance briefings
  • Investigate incidents and support continuous improvement
  • Stay current with health & safety legislation and best practices relevant to heritage and construction
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a SHEQ role, ideally within construction or heritage environments
  • Relevant NEBOSH or IOSH qualifications
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations and environmental compliance
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • A practical understanding of the complexities of working with listed buildings and protected sites
