Job summary

Role Description

The SHEQ Manager is a full-time, on-site position based in Bishop's Waltham, responsible for overseeing Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality across all operational activities. Day-to-day tasks include developing and maintaining SHEQ policies and procedures, conducting site inspections and audits, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and company standards. The role involves leading incident and accident investigations, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence. The SHEQ Manager will deliver training and coaching to staff on health, safety, environmental, and quality practices, monitor performance through KPIs, and prepare reports and recommendations for senior management. Collaboration with operational teams, clients, and regulatory bodies is essential to continuously improve SHEQ performance and promote a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in Health & Safety and Occupational Health, with the ability to manage SHEQ systems across multiple sites.
• Knowledge of Environment Health and Safety (EHS) principles, including environmental risk assessment and compliance with relevant regulations.
• Proficiency in accident and incident investigation, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Experience designing and delivering training on safety, health, environmental, and quality topics to varied audiences.
• Relevant professional qualifications such as NEBOSH General Certificate, IOSH, or equivalent SHEQ-related certification.
• Strong understanding of UK health, safety, and environmental legislation, ideally within traffic management, construction, or civil engineering sectors.
• Excellent communication, report-writing, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and drive cultural change.
• Proven organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Competence in using standard office software and SHEQ management tools for documentation, analysis, and reporting.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to visit operational sites as required.
• Supporting the company with maintaining its current ISO 9001:2015 certification and moving into ISO 9001:2026
• An understanding of the industry that we working in
• Knowledge of national Highway sector scheme 12 ABCD would be advantageous
