Job summary

MCMS, a leading project management consultancy, is seeking a dedicated SHEQ Manager to champion safety, quality, and information security across all operations in the UK.

You will drive ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 implementations, manage the Quality Management System, lead internal and external audits, oversee site risk assessments, investigate incidents, and promote a culture of continuous improvement and data security throughout project teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience managing SHEQ functions.
• Direct experience preparing or maintaining ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certifications is highly desirable.
• Auditing: Internal Auditor qualification; Lead Auditor is advantageous.
• H&S qualification: NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• ISO Accreditation & Quality Assurance: Implement, document, and roll out ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 frameworks.
• Information Security Alignment: Embed ISO 27001 policies, access controls, and risk management into workflows.
• QMS Management: Oversee the Quality Management System under ISO 9001 guidelines.
• Audit Readiness: Lead internal gap analyses and coordinate with external auditors.
• Health, Safety & Environment: Maintain H&S Management System and perform RAMS reviews; conduct risk audits.
• Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Sustainability: Develop environmental strategies to monitor and reduce carbon footprint.
• Culture Change: Promote a proactive safety and data security culture across teams.
• Training & Inductions: Deliver SHEQ and information security briefings and inductions.

To help drive this crucial milestone, we are seeking a dedicated and proactive SHEQ Manager to champion safety, quality, and information security frameworks across all our operations.

Key Responsibilities

ISO Accreditation & Quality Assurance

• ISO Framework Implementation: Act as a core driver in the implementation, documentation, and roll out of frameworks required to achieve ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certifications.
• Information Security Alignment: Partner with IT and Operations to embed ISO 27001 information security policies, access controls, and risk assessment management into our standard project delivery workflows.
• QMS Management: Establish and oversee the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) under ISO 9001 guidelines to ensure deliverables meet strict internal benchmarks and client expectations.
• Audit Readiness: Lead internal gap analyses, map compliance processes, and act as the primary point of contact for external auditors during the formal certification processes.

Health, Safety & Environment

• System Ownership: Maintain and continually improve the company’s Health and Safety Management System in line with industry regulations (e.g., CDM 2015, Health and Safety at Work Act).
• Site & Risk Audits: Review project documentation (RAMS, Construction Phase Plans)
• Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into any site accidents or near-misses, conducting root-cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
• Sustainability: Formulate environmental strategies to monitor, report, and reduce the carbon footprint and waste across our offices and projects.
• Culture Change: Foster a proactive, collaborative culture that values both physical safety and data security across the wider project management and delivery teams.
• Training & Inductions: Deliver impactful SHEQ and information security briefings, toolbox talks, and new-hire compliance inductions.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

• Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience managing SHEQ functions, ideally within a project management, engineering, or professional services setting.
• ISO Expertise: Direct, demonstrable experience preparing an organisation for, or maintaining, ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certifications is highly desirable.
• Auditing: Valid qualification as an Internal Auditor (Lead Auditor status is a distinct advantage).
• H&S Qualifications: NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (or equivalent).
