Due to significant growth and contract wins, OCU Connect is looking for an experienced SHEQ/SHE Advisor to be based out of London. The role's purpose is to provide Health, Safety & Environmental leadership, advice, and training across all levels and departments within the OCU Business, working on various Power/Electrical projects.
Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to reporting and recording procedures for accidents and dangerous occurrences under RIDDOR, as directed by the SHEQ Manager.
- Provide specialist advice on the company's safety policies, procedures, and statutory compliance.
- Monitor contractor safety arrangements to ensure they meet contractual and company standards.
- Ensure site employees comply with health and safety policies, procedures, and client requirements.
- Recommend disciplinary actions for safety non-compliance by supervisory staff.
- Take appropriate action on safety disregard issues on site.
- Maintain a safe and healthy working environment for all personnel and visitors.
- Monitor welfare facilities to ensure adequacy and effectiveness.
- Promote reporting of near misses throughout the company.
- Work at any company site as authorized, within the UK.
Skills & Experience
- Experience as a SHEQ Advisor in Construction, Utilities, Civil Engineering, preferably within Power and Energy sectors.
- Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
- Strong people management skills.
- Ability to act with initiative and pursue continual improvement.
- Good negotiation skills and a tactful, assertive manner.
- Confident in delivering presentations.
- Logical thinker with problem-solving skills.
- Organized with attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Understanding of relevant laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Report writing skills, including incident investigation and RCA.

Required Qualifications
- NCRQ Level 6 / NVQ Level 6 / NEBOSH Diploma.
- Experience in the utilities sector, with a preference for Power sector.
- Experience working in Live Substations (desirable).
- Experience with management systems and NERS accreditation (desirable).
- Experience working with DNOs and IDNOs.
- EUSR or CSCS in General Health and Safety.
- Proficient in compiling reports.
- Must hold a current full UK driving license.
