Job summary

MCS Group is seeking a SHEQ Advisor to join a leading environmental services and waste management business based in Belfast. You will support compliance and continuous improvement across multiple hazardous waste sites, working with the SHEQ Manager to maintain high safety and environmental standards.

Key duties include conducting site inspections, developing risk assessments, audits and training, and coordinating external inspections. Regular travel across Northern Ireland is required.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH General Certificate or IOSH Managing Safely (with commitment to NEBOSH within first year)
• Experience in operational H&S/SHEQ, including risk assessments, inspections and incident investigations
• Knowledge of HSE legislation, auditing and compliance procedures
• Experience delivering safety training to employees
• Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Experience in waste management, manufacturing, construction or industrial environments would be advantageous
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and 50001, or internal auditor qualification, desirable
• Willingness to travel regularly between sites across Northern Ireland, Belfast base

Responsibilities

• Carry out regular site inspections, identifying hazards, non-conformances and areas for improvement
• Develop and review risk assessments, safe systems of work and health and safety procedures
• Conduct internal audits and maintain compliance records in line with relevant ISO standards
• Coordinate statutory inspections, equipment testing, contractor compliance and external audits
• Support accident and incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings and SHEQ training to employees
• Monitor SHEQ KPIs, prepare incident reports and maintain compliance documentation
• Manage PPE requirements and support face-fit testing and respiratory protective equipment compliance
• Liaise with operational teams, contractors and regulatory bodies to promote SHEQ compliance
