Overview

Fuse Rail Ltd is a Principle Contractor for Network Rail. A specialist electrical company servicing the electrification and plant requirements within the rail industry. Located in Woodland Road, Lyminge, Kent

The Safety Adviser assists the SHEQ Manager who oversees the safety, health environment, and quality assurance side of the business. They supervise and coordinate work systems to ensure that the products or services of the company meet the highest quality standards and that the working conditions of the company are favourable and safe.

Responsibilities
  • To conduct regular site inspections on the work force and review inspection outputs to identify trends and facilitate improvements.
  • Accurately update systems, databases and records as required.
  • Represent the SHEQ Manager / Directors at Safety organisation meetings.
  • Have a good understanding of relevant Network Rails group and line standards.
  • To assist Project Managers to investigate accidents / incidents and ensure all documentation is processed timely and effectively.
  • Advise line management and assist with the implementation of new or existing SHEQ-related legislation, rules and Company standards.
  • Responsible for Legionella compliance within the Company.
  • To develop a monthly SHEQ Communication Strategy for all sites and levels of staff, to include written information, toolbox talks and management briefs.
  • Assist SHEQ Manager for Company preparations for annual H&S, Quality and environmental audits and rail specific RISQS.
  • Assist with the facilitation of all forms of risk assessment e.g. general, manual handling, COSHH, fire prevention and provide a specialist response is required in relation to risk assessments performed by others on site.
  • Critique operational documents with a view to eliminate / reduce risks associated with task specific operations.
  • Work with the delivery teams to ensure Fuse Rail remains compliant to legislation and client standards.
Experience
  • Rail industry: 3 years (desired)
Qualifications
  • Nebosh certificate or NVQ Level 3 in Occupational Health and Safety Practice (greater or equivalent) (Required)
  • 9001 Lead Auditor
  • IEMA Foundation Certificate
