Job summary

Morson Edge is seeking time-served sheet metal workers for barrow-in-furness-based projects, manufacturing and installing ventilation systems and furniture within a large engineering environment. Opportunities exist across days and nights with a 3 on 4 off pattern.

Roles require apprenticeship papers, HVAC experience, and familiarity with manufacturing processes. BPSS clearance may be required for long-term, prestigious projects within shipbuilding sectors.

Qualifications

• Time-served status required.
• HVAC manufacture/installation experience.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and procedures.
• Knowledge of SHE Risk Assessments, PUWER and COSHH.
• Ability to work at height and in confined spaces.
• Experience in marine/shipbuilding environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble and install sheet metal items.
• Use welding and fabrication equipment on naval platforms during construction.
• Work with pipe protection, glam plates and small support systems in bunk spaces.

Ready to put your trade skills to work on some of the UK's biggest engineering projects? Morson is recruiting experienced Sheet Metal Workers on behalf of a prestigious client in Barrow in Furness. If you're time-served, skilled in fabrication and HVAC work, overtime opportunities and long-term work, we'd love to hear from you.

Pay Rates

• Days £20.10 per hour PAYE
• Holiday pay Nights & Weekends £26.73 per hour PAYE
• Plus £8.00 per hour non-local allowance

Shift Patterns

• Opportunities available across:
• Dayshift
• Nightshift
• 3 on 4 off shift

The Role

You'll be involved in the manufacture and installation of ventilation systems and furniture within a large-scale engineering environment.

Key responsibilities include

• Fabricate, Assemble and Install sheet metal items
• Confidently use of Welding and Fabrication equipment on Astue and/or Dreadnought class submarines whilst they are under construction
• Working with Pipe protection, glam plates, small support systems- Bunk spaces

What You'll Need

• Time-served Sheet Metal Worker status
• Apprenticeship papers available for verification
• HVAC manufacture and installation experience
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and procedures
• Knowledge of SHE Risk Assessments, PUWER and COSHH
• Ability to work at height and in confined spaces
• Experience within manufacturing, construction, engineering or marine environments
• Marine or shipbuilding experience is advantageous
• Trade Test: All successful applicants will complete a practical trade test, including:
  • HVAC and furniture fault finding
  • Square-to-round development
  • Duct ventilation development drawing assessment
