Job summary

DCS Recruitment Limited is recruiting experienced Sheet Metal Workers to join a well-established aerospace and defence manufacturer at their Manchester (East) facility. This high-precision role focuses on producing components for aerospace clients in a demanding environment.

Applicants should have aerospace background or strong aluminium sheet metal experience, and be skilled at reading complex drawings, following SOPs, and maintaining safety and quality standards. Overtime available.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings.
• Experience in aerospace/defence or high-precision metalwork environments.
• Familiarity with 5S and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture and assemble sheet metal components to tight aerospace tolerances.
• Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
• Follow in-house routing cards, SOPs, and quality standards.
• Use calibrated equipment correctly per process requirements.
• Carry out sheet metal processes such as rubber pressing, hand forming, profiling, countersinking, wheeling, rolling.

Sheet Metal Worker - Aerospace

Location: Manchester (East)

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role:

We are recruiting experienced Sheet Metal Workers to join a well-established aerospace and defence manufacturer at their busy Manchester (East) facility. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a high-tech engineering environment, producing precision components for aerospace and defence clients.

This role is specifically suited to candidates with an aerospace background, or those with strong experience working with thin gauge aluminium in a high-precision manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manufacture and assemble sheet metal components to tight aerospace tolerances
• Read and accurately interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications
• Follow in-house routing cards, Standard Operating Procedures, and quality standards
• Use calibrated equipment correctly and in line with process requirements
• Carry out key sheet metal processes including:
• Rubber pressing
• Hand forming
• Profiling parts after form
• Countersinking
• Wheeling
• Rolling
• Maintain consistently high standards of workmanship and attention to detail

Essential Requirements:

• Candidates must meet at least one of the following criteria:
• Time-served Sheet Metal Worker with direct aerospace manufacturing experience, OR
• Strong sheet metal background working with thin gauge aluminium in a high-precision industry (e.g. aerospace, defence, medical, pharmaceutical)
• In addition, all candidates must have:
• Proven ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings
• Experience working to strict quality and compliance standards
• A strong commitment to safe working practices and 5S principles

This role is not suitable for candidates without aerospace or aluminium precision experience.

Working Hours:

Standard hours are 36 hours per week, compressed into a four-day working week (Monday-Thursday)
