Job summary

Contek Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Sheet Metal Fabricator / Plasma Operator in Herne Bay, Kent. The role involves fabricating ductwork and operating CNC plasma cutters in a modern workshop.

Hours are 8:00am–4:30pm, Monday to Friday, with overtime at 1.5x. The contract is 12 weeks Temporary to Permanent with potential progression after an initial agency period.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Sheet Metal Worker, Fabricator, or CNC Plasma Operator.

Responsibilities

• Fabricating rectangular and spiral ductwork using mild and galvanized steel (up to 1mm thickness).
• Operating workshop machinery including press brakes, guillotines, and folding equipment.
• Operating CNC Plasma Cutters
• Reading and working directly from technical CAD drawings and production schedules.
• Maintaining high standards of accuracy, structural strength, and finish on all manufactured components.

Sheet Metal Fabricator / Plasma Operator

Location: Herne Bay, Kent

Salary: £14.00 – £18.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm (Overtime available at 1.5x)

Contract: 12 week Temporary to Permanent

Contek Recruitment Solutions are currently representing a well-established, sheetmetal fabrication specialist in Kent who are seeking skilled Sheet Metal Workers / Fabricators and Plasma Cutters to join their expanding workshop team.

Operating out of a modern fabrication facility producing rectangular and spiral ductwork, ventilation systems, and commercial extraction units, our client is looking for experienced hands to support their growing production demand.

Key Responsibilities

• Fabricating rectangular and spiral ductwork using mild and galvanized steel (up to 1mm thickness).


• Operating workshop machinery including press brakes, guillotines, and folding equipment.


• Operating CNC Plasma Cutters


• Reading and working directly from technical CAD drawings and production schedules.


• Maintaining high standards of accuracy, structural strength, and finish on all manufactured components.


• Working effectively as part of a busy 25-person workshop team to hit production deadlines.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Sheet Metal Worker, Fabricator, or CNC Plasma Operator within a workshop environment.


• Direct experience in ductwork fabrication, HVAC systems, or thin-gauge metal sheet work (galvanized/mild steel).


• Confident operating press brakes, guillotines, and manual/automated fabrication tools.


• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
