Job summary

Connect Recruitment is seeking a motivated Production Operative to join a heavy sheet metal fabrication team in the Telford area. The role focuses on heavy lifting, fabrication, welding, assembly, and finishing of metal components, with strict quality standards and a hands-on approach.

You will work safely with hand and power tools, perform quality checks, maintain cleanliness, and collaborate with colleagues to meet daily targets.

Qualifications

• Experience with fabrication processes including grinding, welding, or sheet metal work is preferred.
• Mechanical knowledge or background in working with hand tools and tooling.
• Ability to lift heavy objects safely and consistently throughout shifts.
• Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to fabrication tasks.
• Familiarity with assembly processes involving sheet metal components.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Strong teamwork ethic with excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Safely lift, move, and position heavy sheets of metal using appropriate manual or powered tools.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and tooling to cut, shape, grind, and finish sheet metal components.
• Assist with fabrication tasks such as welding, grinding, and assembling metal parts according to specifications.
• Conduct quality checks on finished products to ensure they meet design standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency.
• Follow safety protocols at all times during heavy lifting, fabrication, and assembly tasks.
