Job summary

Norgine in the United Kingdom (Hengoed) is seeking a Safety, Health and Environmental Officer to help develop, implement and continuously improve the site's SHE management systems. Reporting to the Head of SHE, Training & Development, you will provide practical advice, monitor compliance and promote a positive safety and environmental culture.

Qualifications

• A recognised occupational health and safety qualification, such as the NEBOSH National General Certificate, an equivalent qualification or relevant demonstrable experience
• Practical knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and management systems
• Experience in manufacturing, pharmaceuticals or another regulated environment
• Practical experience supporting SHE management systems, risk assessments, incident investigations, audits and inspections
• The ability to provide clear technical guidance and work independently within established standards
• Strong analytical, verbal communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
• Some experience coordinating the work of others
• Knowledge of ISO 45001 and environmental management principles, including ISO 14001, would be advantageous

Responsibilities

• Provide practical safety, health and environmental advice across the site
• Monitor relevant UK legislation and support actions required to maintain compliance
• Lead or support risk assessments and investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses
• Plan and conduct SHE inspections and audits, supporting corrective and preventative actions through to closure
• Support safe delivery of projects, installations, contractor activities and operational changes
• Maintain fire-safety procedures and support emergency preparedness
• Analyse SHE performance data and provide recommendations for continuous improvement
• Deliver SHE communications, training, toolbox talks and awareness activities
• Support environmental compliance and site reporting requirements, including ESOS and waste licensing
• Deputise for the SHE Manager when required and act as a Data Protection Champion
