Job description

We have an immediate requirement to appoint a SHE Manager based at our Head Office in Southampton. The SHE Manager will oversee operations across various sectors, including Process & Water and Energy, managing a team of SHE Advisors and Environmental Advisors. Reporting to the Head of SHEQ, this role involves travel to different sites and regional Trant offices within the UK.

We are seeking applications from individuals currently working as SHE Managers within civil engineering or M&E environments. Experience in water or energy sectors is advantageous.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Managing and mentoring a team of Health, Safety & Environmental Engineers across all sectors and locations in the UK.
  2. Leading the development and improvement of the Business Management System (BMS) related to safety, health, environment, and quality.
  3. Developing and maintaining health, safety, and environmental standards and ensuring their implementation on-site.
  4. Identifying potential hazards not covered in the safe system of works and introducing appropriate control measures.
  5. Monitoring environmental aspects and impacts within the working environment.
  6. Advising personnel on SHEQ policies and procedures.
  7. liaising with client representatives regarding SHEQ management.
  8. Investigating high-severity accidents and incidents, and implementing preventative measures.
  9. Developing and monitoring key performance indicators.
  10. Promoting high standards of professional conduct and SHE compliance.
  11. Supporting and guiding third-party audits (e.g., BSI, ROSPA, Achilles).
  12. Developing and maintaining certification to ISO45001, ISO14001, ISO50001, and ISO9001 standards.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • NEBOSH National Diploma or equivalent
  • IEMA Level 3 Environmental Management
  • CSCS card
  • Knowledge of ISO9001:2015
  • Recognised accident and incident investigation qualification
  • Experience with National Grid projects is beneficial but not essential

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of ISO14001
  • Knowledge of ISO45001
