Job summary

Howdens Joinery is seeking a Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Business Partner for our Raunds distribution hub in Northamptonshire. You will work with senior leaders and site teams to shape the SHE agenda and deliver sustainable safety improvements.

The role combines strategic influence with hands-on delivery, including audits, risk assessments, training, incident investigations, and regulatory liaison, all to embed Howdens' SAFER Together values across the site.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years' experience in a similar SHE role within a fast-paced environment.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Environmental Management qualification (IEMA).
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Driving a positive safety culture, influencing behaviours and promoting best practice across the site.
  • Supporting the development and delivery of the site's SHE strategy and annual objectives.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance on all SHE matters to leaders and colleagues.
  • Conducting inspections, audits and reviews to identify risks and drive continuous improvement.
  • Leading or supporting incident investigations and ensuring effective corrective actions are implemented.
  • Designing and delivering engaging SHE training and awareness programmes.
  • Building strong relationships with regulatory bodies and external stakeholders.
  • Overseeing occupational health and hygiene monitoring activities.
  • Championing elements of Howdens' Blueprint for Safety Excellence programme and embedding our SAFER Together values across the site.
