Job summary

Connexus in Shropshire is seeking a proactive SHE Advisor to shape safe, compliant and sustainable workplaces across our housing association. You’ll work with colleagues, managers and contractors to provide trusted advice and improve health, safety, facilities, environmental compliance and sustainability.

The role offers hybrid working with a Head Office in Craven Arms and occasional travel to other offices as required. Shortlisting and interview dates are included in the recruitment timetable.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in health and safety, facilities, environmental management or a related property-based role.
• A recognised health and safety qualification such as NEBOSH General Certificate.
• A recognised environmental qualification such as IEMA Foundation Certificate or a commitment to work towards one.
• Strong communication, influence and relationship-building across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, practical advice to support health, safety and environmental compliance across Connexus workplaces.
• Plan, inspect, audit and investigate incidents, identifying learnings and ensuring actions are completed.
• Work with managers, colleagues and contractors to maintain safe, effective and compliant facilities.
• Support environmental compliance and deliver sustainability initiatives with measurable improvements.
• Use data and assurance activities to highlight risks, monitor progress and inform priorities.
• Build positive relationships and encourage colleagues to adopt safe and sustainable ways of working.

This is a varied and influential role with the opportunity to make a visible difference. Working alongside colleagues, managers and contractors, you’ll provide trusted advice, strengthen standards and turn good ideas into practical improvements across health and safety, facilities, environmental compliance and sustainability.

What you'll be doing

• Providing clear, practical advice that supports health, safety and environmental compliance across our workplaces.
• Planning and completing inspections, audits and investigations, identifying learning and following actions through to completion.
• Working with managers, colleagues and contractors to maintain safe, effective and compliant facilities.
• Supporting environmental compliance and delivering sustainability initiatives that produce measurable improvements.
• Using data, insight and assurance activity to highlight risks, monitor progress and inform priorities.
• Building positive relationships and helping colleagues take ownership of safe and sustainable ways of working.

What we're looking for

• Relevant experience in health and safety, facilities, environmental management or a related property-based role. You do not need to have worked across every area; we value strong transferable experience and a willingness to develop.
• A recognised health and safety qualification, such as the NEBOSH General Certificate.
• A recognised environmental qualification, such as the IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management, or a commitment to work towards one.
• The confidence to communicate clearly, influence constructively and build trusted relationships at all levels.
• A practical, organised and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to manage priorities and see actions through.
• Curiosity about environmental and sustainability matters and enthusiasm for continuous improvement.

This role has been identified as suitable for hybrid working which will be a combination of home working and working from our offices, with Head office at Craven Arms and travel to other offices as required.
