Job summary

Mountain Healthcare is seeking a GMC-registered Doctor to join our team as a Sexual Offence Examiner, delivering compassionate, trauma-informed forensic care to victims. The role covers paediatric and adult services at Willow Tree CYP SARC, with travel between clinics in Birmingham, Bransford, and Stoke-on-Trent.

Qualifications

• GMC-registered Doctor with full registration to practise in the UK.
• Minimum 3 years plus relevant post-Foundation experience.
• Knowledge of safeguarding children and adults and confidentiality.
• Driving licence and access to a vehicle required.
• Experience in Sexual health, Paediatrics, GP or Obs/Gynae is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform forensic examinations and obtain forensic exhibits.
• Develop forensic strategies according to FFLM guidelines.
• Collaborate with MDTs and Police on referrals and casework.
• Act as point of contact for Police and Social Services on referrals.
• Undertake holistic assessments including sexual health, mental health, safeguarding.
• Support ongoing quality improvement and adhere to Forensic Science Regulator requirements.

We are seeking a GMC-registered Doctor to join our team. This is an opportunity to support children, young people and adults who access Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARC) helping each patient feel safe, listened to and in control of their care.

The role is for all ages covering both paediatric and adult services. There is a requirement for some travel as part of the role dependent on base location.

FYI: For this particular contract, we are only able to accommodate female doctors

Contracted Hours: 24 Hours (part time hours will be considered)

• Monday-Friday: 9am-5pm

Location: Willow Tree CYP SARC, Willow Tree CYP SARC

Non-recent clinics:

• Mon: Birmingham (B36 8ND)
• Tuesday: Bransford (WR6 5JD)
• Thursday: Stoke on Trent (ST6 2JN)
• Friday: Birmingham (B36 8ND)

The role of Sexual Offence Examiner is critical in providing victims of sexual assault with the dedicated support and care required. As a Sexual Offence Examiner, you will learn through clinical placements and blended learning, as well as receiving support with an allocated mentor. We will identify an individualised programme of education and exposure to clinical environments, providing opportunities for examinations, in addition to financial support whilst undertaking this post.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Forensic examinations and obtaining forensic exhibits.
• Develop Forensic strategies according to FFLM guidelines.
• Actively working in partnership with external MDTs and Police.
• Point of contact for Police and Social Services to discuss referral pathways.
• Undertaking holistic assessments including sexual health, mental health, and safeguarding.
• Supporting the continued quality improvement of the service.
• Working under the Forensic Science Regulator requirements.
• Obtaining consent for Health and Forensic procedures

• Travel for training days will also be a requirement of this role. Hotel and subsistence will be reimbursed in line with the Expenses Policy
• GMC-registered Doctor
• A minimum of 3 years + relevant post Foundation experience.
• Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and adults.
• Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality.
• Experience of working in Sexual health, Paediatrics, GP or Obs/Gynae.
• A UK driving license is required for this role and access to a vehicle.
• Advanced DBS and level 2 Police vetting will be required. This requires residency for 3 years in the UK
• Medical Indemnity by start date is also a requirement and will be your responsibly for the cost of obtaining and maintaining this cover.
• Diploma in Legal Medicine
• Member of the Faculty for Forensic and Legal Medicine
• Previous experience working in a SARC setting or custodial environments

• Note that we cannot support International Visas.
• Police Vetting is a requirement of the post.
