We are looking for dedicated and experienced professionals to join our team as Forensic Medical Examiners (FME)at The Shores Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC)in Bournemouth. This vital role provides essential care, support, and forensic examinations for victims of sexual assault and rape during an incredibly vulnerable time.

The Shores SARC operates 24/7, 365 days a year, with a committed team of on-call Crisis Workers and Sexual Offence Examiners. Our mission is to deliver trauma-informed, high-quality care and support to those who need it most.
Your Role as a Forensic Medical Examiner
In this essential role, you will provide acute forensic examinations and aftercare to victims of rape and sexual assault in line with PHL,FFLM, and GMC guidelines and codes of conduct.

What Were Looking For

The services we operate include call handling,telephone clinical assessment, out of hours home visiting services and some face-to-facePrimary Care appointments services in Hampshire. In 2021 a newly formedHealthcare Division was created and incorporates PHLs Urgent Care, PrimaryCare and Youla Care Concierge Services. The new division combines PHL'shealthcare operations into one team and utilises internal and externalresources efficiently to achieve our organisations vision: to be an innovativehealthcare enabler, known for providing a range of high-quality care.

Main Duties
To carry out forensicexaminations of victims of rape and sexual assault in accordance with PHL,FFLM, and GMC guidelines
To conduct strategydiscussions as requested to plan appropriate care based on the needs of thevictim
To be available toattend the SARC, or other venue, within an agreed timeframe when requested toby PHL Call centre
To treat all SARCclients with courtesy, consideration, care and respect and give appropriatecare and treatment in accordance with SARC best practice
To work with and liaisewith the Crisis Worker and Specially trained officer to ensure that theclient feels in control and the service is tailored to their needs
To obtain fullyinformed consent for all procedures from the SARC client
To take relevantforensic samples as per FFLM guidelines, ensuring the chain of evidence anddocument injuries
To complete aftercarerisk assessments; pregnancy, STIs. blood-borne virus, mental health andsafeguarding
To administer anyrelevant medication as per PHL and SARC medicine code
To complete alldocumentation as per local guidelines including FFLM proforma and anaftercare form and store securely as per local guidelines
To complete written Policestatements as soon as practically possible or within 10 working days, whenrequested by PHL
To attend court whenrequested to, as a professional witness
To practice as anindependent medical professional exercising independent clinical judgement
To maintain their SARCtraining matrix by attending quarterly peer supervision, peer review,appraisals, undertaking quarterly reflective practice, completing mandatorytraining and attending relevant training events and conferences
To work towardsacquiring the LSOM qualification or equivalent
To adhere to policiesand procedures produced by PHL and the SARC
To maintain confidentialityat all times, adhering to Data Protection, and maintaining CaldicottGuidelines at all times
Liaising with PartnerAgencies to ensure Clients receive appropriate on-going support
Participate in multi-agencypartnership working
Participate inbi-annual Employee Development Review (EDR)
Carry out any reasonablerequest from your Line Manager
