Qualifikationen

Aufgaben

• See patients independently within an integrated sexual and reproductive health service.
• Perform screening, venepuncture and vaccination as an autonomous practitioner.
• Administer hormonal contraception and medicines under guidance or as a non-medical prescriber.
• Provide sexual health advice to clients and support the health advisor role.
• Undertake clinical duties in line with banding, experience and competence.
• Work mainly at the Hathersage Centre with coverage of spoke clinics in Cheetham Hill, Newton Heath and Harpurhey.

This is a sexual health nurse practitioner post within the Northern Contraception, Sexual Health & HIV Service at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, based at the Hathersage Centre. The work centres on independent patient consultations, including screening, venepuncture, vaccination and prescribing hormonal contraception under patient group directions or as a non-medical prescriber. The post also covers spoke clinics in Cheetham Hill, Newton Heath and Harpurhey alongside the main site. Applicants need to hold a nursing or midwifery registration and the DFSRH/STIF qualification or an equivalent.

What the job involves

• Seeing patients independently within an integrated sexual and reproductive health service
• Performing symptomatic and asymptomatic screening, venepuncture and vaccination as an autonomous practitioner
• Administering hormonal contraception and medicines under patient group directions or as a non-medical prescriber
• Providing sexual health advice to clients, including supporting the health advisor role
• Undertaking clinical duties in line with banding, experience and competence
• Working mainly at the Hathersage Centre and covering spoke clinics in Cheetham Hill, Newton Heath and Harpurhey

Experience

• Experience in sexual health, contraception and HIV care
• Experience in sexual and reproductive health at Band 5
• Proven ability to take part in the audit process
• Teaching and assessment of pre and post registration students

Skills & knowledge

• Current and in-depth knowledge of confidentiality and consent
• Current and in-depth knowledge of local and national safeguarding processes for under 16s, under 18s and vulnerable adults

Nice to have

• STIF Intermediate competencies
• Nurse Diploma in sexual and reproductive health
• Recognised post-registration qualification in sexual and reproductive health
• In-depth knowledge of sexual and reproductive health
• Knowledge of current national developments in sexual health services
• Currently practising in the speciality
• HIV nursing experience
• Gynaecological nursing experience
