The ‘London Market’ is a complex ecosystem of Brokers, Managing Agents, Syndicates, Companies and Experts, all of which use shared services to underwrite premiums and pay claims. With unrivalled knowledge of mission-critical operations, the London Market Business has over 450 employees helping insurers compete in a changing, more consumer-centric market. Our core business services involve performing checks on insurance documents, processing premium transactions and processing claims transactions.

Job Overview:

Location: Chatham, GB and Working from Home

Hours: Full Time 9.00 to 17.30 Monday to Friday

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Operations Support Team for a Settlement Technician. The role entails liaising with customers and their banks to help them set up, amend and remove bank accounts, helping customers resolve any settlement issues they have around the processing and settlement of premiums & claims transactions and registering customers for other services relating to settlement.

The Role:

In this role, you will support both our Lloyds and Company market customers in the process of setting up bank accounts, set up and maintain settlement messaging, help with the resolution of any issues raised around the actual settlement of premiums and claims processed through DXC, ensuring the daily LIPS company market settlement process completes on time, registering customers for other services relating to settlement and maintaining various system tables to ensure customers are set up on our systems correctly to be able to process transactions through DXC as requested. Full training will be provided on all aspects of the role; therefore, previous banking and insurance knowledge is not essential as long as you have the willingness to learn the relevant procedures.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Validating bank mandates and other registration forms, raising queries as required.
  2. Setting up bank accounts in our in-house systems.
  3. Liaising with the customers and their banks.
  4. Updating various system tables to ensure onward processing can complete.
  5. Reviewing and responding to any settlement issues raised by our customers, their banks, Lloyds STFO (Settlement Trust Fund Office) and RBS (Royal Bank of Scotland).
  6. Working closely with Lloyds STFO (for Lloyd’s settlement issues).
  7. Working closely with RBS and other participant banks for Company market settlement and ensuring the daily LIPs process completes on time.
  8. Completion of various daily settlement tasks to ensure settlement runs smoothly.
  9. Creating and maintaining procedures to ensure the latest process is documented.
  10. Providing evidence and responding to questions raised by internal and external auditors.

The Ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong customer service skills to ensure the customer is kept up to date with progress on their issue.
  • Good analytical and communication skills are needed to ascertain the problems the customer is encountering so that you can resolve their issues in a timely manner.
  • The ability to multitask is key as you will often be managing multiple queries from various customers simultaneously.
  • You will need to have an eye for detail and work to a high degree of accuracy as it's important to be observant and notice any discrepancies or errors within documentation.
  • Change focus quickly as business needs dictate.
  • Work under pressure to meet challenging deadlines.
  • A flexible team player with a “can do” attitude.
  • Knowledge of banking and insurance processes is advantageous but not essential.
  • Knowledge of Excel.

What can we do for you:

  • A competitive benefits salary.
  • Benefit package consisting of private medical insurance, gym membership discounts, contributory pension scheme.
  • 25 days of annual leave plus Bank Holidays.
  • Excellent career growth and training.
  • Perks at work.
  • DXC Incentive programme.
