Job summary

AFECO in the West Midlands is seeking a Setting Out Engineer to join our civil engineering and utilities teams. You will interpret drawings, establish site control, and carry out setting out of earthworks, drainage, pipelines and concrete structures on leading water infrastructure projects.

The role requires using Leica/Trimble/Topcon survey equipment, a full UK driving license, and strong QA with accurate records.

Qualifications

Experience as Setting Out Engineer in civil, utilities, infrastructure or construction.
Competent with Leica, Trimble, or Topcon survey equipment.
Strong ability to read engineering drawings and specs.
Experience setting out drainage, reinforced concrete, highways, pipelines, and structural works.
Knowledge of QA processes and tolerances.
Proficient with MS Office.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

Carry out all setting out using required measuring tools and levels.
Interpret drawings to establish accurate site control.
Establish and maintain site control points and survey benchmarks.
Set out earthworks, drainage, pipelines, concrete structures, roads, and steelwork.
Verify dimensions, levels, and coordinates before construction.
Produce and maintain survey records and as-built information.
Support subcontractors with setting out data and guidance.
Ensure survey equipment is maintained and calibrated.
