Overview

Setting Out Engineer - Bristol

Duration: 6 Months
Start Date: End of October 2025

We are looking for an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join a civil engineering contractor on a 6 month contract in Bristol, starting at the end of October. The project involves the installation of underground district heating pipework, contributing to a sustainable and energy efficient infrastructure upgrade.

Responsibilities

• Setting out for underground pipe installations using Total Station and GPS survey equipment
• Conducting QA checks and maintaining accurate, up-to-date site records
• Interpreting technical drawings to ensure works are delivered to specification and within tolerances
• Collaborating with site managers, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure coordinated progress
• Providing precise survey data and supporting daily site operations

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer on civil or infrastructure projects
• Valid First Aid certification
• SSSTS or SMSTS
• Strong working knowledge of Total Station and GPS equipment
• Familiarity with QA processes and site compliance procedures

Desirable

• Own Total Station and/or GPS kit (beneficial but not essential)
• Relevant engineering or surveying qualifications
• Previous experience with utility or pipework installations
