Qualifications

  • Experience in working with young people including young women and LGBTQ+ Young People.
  • Ability to deliver high quality climbing programme with children and young people.

Job description

Opening in early 2026, Base71 Youth Zone is an ambitious new £10 million facility designed to transform the lives of young people in Barnsley. Open seven days a week, it will offer a wide range of high-quality, inspiring activities in a safe, welcoming, and purpose-built environment.
Base71 is part of the national OnSide network, which empowers young people across the UK through world-class youth work and inclusive opportunities.
The Opportunity
As a Sessional Youth Worker in Health & Wellbeing, you will play a vital part in the coaching and teaching of different health and wellbeing skills to young people. You will work with all youth workers and young people to provide a wide range of opportunities from informal education sessions, wellness projects, advice and support and the more traditional health and beauty pastimes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and deliver a high-quality programme of activity that is exciting, safe, varied, innovative, developmental and directly responds to the diverse needs, concerns and interests of members.
• Be a role model to young people, fostering an environment where they feel confident and welcome.
• Encourage attendance and participation in activities, particularly by young people who do not usually participate in art.
About You:
We are looking for a candidate with:
• Experience of teaching skills in health and beauty, and delivering health and wellbeing projects
• Experience in working with young people aged 8 to 19, or 25 with additional needs including young women and LGBTQ+ Young People
• Ability to deliver high quality climbing programme with children and young people
