Job summary

Youth Focus North East is seeking experienced Sessional Youth Workers to join our Middlesbrough team, delivering detached, outreach and centre-based work with young people.

You will recruit participants, sustain engagement and guide them to participate in positive, educational sessions, applying evidence-based practice and youth work methodology. Evening sessions run Monday to Friday, 5:00 pm–8:00 pm; applicants should hold a relevant qualification or demonstrable youth work experience.

• Commitment to improving young people’s lives and addressing needs.
• Understanding of evidence-based practice and youth work methodology.

Responsibilities

Job description

Youth Focus North East has vacancies for experienced Sessional Youth Workers, to add to our team working in Middlesbrough. The work will involve detached, outreach and centre based work.

We are looking for sessional youth workers who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people. Confident in the delivery of youth work, you will be committed to improving young people’s lives, and working with them to address their concerns and needs.

Our programme of work provides new and fun experiences through open access, detached and outreach for young people to explore opportunities, raise their aspirations, be positively challenged and be supported to be the decision makers of their own pathway.

Your role will involve recruiting young people into the projects, retaining their engagement and encouraging them to participate in positive and educational sessions and activities. Confident in the delivery of youth work, you will be committed to improving young people’s lives, and working with them to address their concerns and needs.

Energetic and passionate, you’ll bring knowledge and skill-base to the challenge of working with a wide range of young people and stakeholders and be able to demonstrate continuing professional development.

Evening sessions are held Monday - Friday, 3 hour sessions between the times of 5.00 pm - 8.00 pm.

Applicants will be required to hold either a relevant qualification or demonstrate a wide range of youth work experience; and have a clear understanding of evidence based practice, youth work methodology and young people’s rights.
