Job summary

The Yard is hiring a Sessional Playworker in Glasgow to support and develop our play and youth work program. You will help set up activities, deliver sessions and keep the child at the centre of all work. You will collaborate with parents and professionals to provide inclusive play opportunities, with flexibility around peak times.

Hours vary; open evenings and interviews are planned, and the team values an inclusive, supportive environment dedicated to our mission.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working with children and young people in a play or youth work setting.
  • An understanding of the values of play and play work and inclusive play opportunities.
  • Ability to work in a flexible and creative manner, individually and in a team.
  • Experience liaising with parents, carers and other professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, deliver and develop The Yard’s play and youth work provision.
  • Ensure a child-centred approach in all activities.
  • Liaise with parents, carers and other professionals to support learners.

As a Sessional Playworker, you will be a key part of the team, playing an active role in the set-up, delivery and development of The Yard’s play and youth work provision. While ensuring an approach which has the child and/or young person at its centre.

This job is for you if you have:

  • Experience of working with children and young people in a play or youth work setting
  • An understanding of the values of play and play work and a commitment to inclusive play opportunities that hold the child at the centre
  • A proven ability to work in a flexible and creative manner, as an individual and as part of a team
  • Experience of liaising with parents, carers and other professionals

Hours: Sessional posts do not have guaranteed hours, the role provides additional cover over peak times (i.e. holiday periods and periods of absence.)
