Job Title: English Lecturer

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Lecturer to join our college. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, assessment, and feedback to students across English GCSE, English Language A-Level, and Access to HE English Literature courses. The role involves managing day-to-day course operations, developing engaging curriculum materials, supporting student progress, and participating in college-wide activities and meetings.

Main Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Deliver high-quality English teaching aligned with college standards and curriculum specifications, including A-Level English Language, GCSE English Language, and Access to HE English Literature.
2. Manage course operations, including communication, problem-solving, timetable management, and coordination of assessments and internal verification.
3. Assist with student recruitment, enrollment, induction, and academic support to promote positive learning outcomes and employability skills.
4. Conduct regular student meetings to set and review SMART targets, support UCAS applications, and address pastoral needs.
5. Monitor student attendance, results, and course performance, implementing action plans as needed.
6. Support English and Maths provision through classroom and one-to-one sessions, monitoring attendance and progress.
7. Participate in college meetings, parent evenings, marketing events, and CPD activities, including mentoring new lecturers.
8. Maintain departmental administration, including attendance records, reports, and virtual learning environment updates.
9. Engage in quality assurance activities such as course reviews, verification, and moderation.

Additional duties for lecturers on SPS points 5–8 include internal verification, resource coordination, and supporting curriculum development.
