Job summary

A leading playcentre in Canterbury is seeking a part-time Session Facilitator. The role involves supporting child-led play, engaging with parents, and mentoring families in a vibrant learning environment. Qualifications

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher or an Early Childhood qualification of Level 4 or higher.
  • Hold a current first aid certificate or be willing to achieve this.
  • Hold a primary teaching qualification and be prepared to undertake a Playcentre Bridging Course.

Responsibilities

  • Support tamariki and whānau in facilitating child-led play.
  • Guide activities and facilitate learning in sessions.
  • Mentor parents in the Playcentre Education programme.

Job description

Session Facilitator - Hanmer Springs Playcentre

Part-time, Permanent, FTTE up to: 0.2

Early learning / kōhanga reo, Certificated teacher

Belonging / Mana Whenua, Contribution / Mana Tangata, Communication / Mana Reo, Exploration / Mana Aotūroa, Well-being / Mana Atua

We’re seeking a vibrant, motivated, creative, and passionate educator with a sparkling personality to join our well-resourced centre to support our tamariki, parents, and whānau in facilitating child-led play.

You will work alongside our centre whānau to open the sessions, guide activities, facilitate learning for our members and tamariki, while role-modelling child-led play and positive guidance.

The successful candidate will support whānau in the use of te reo Māori, encourage participation in the Playcentre Education programme to increase qualification levels at our centre, and demonstrate the benefits of participating to whānau.

We are all about mentoring and supporting parents / whānau / members / tamariki as they explore and learn with their children during these very special years.

Start date: 4 August

Days and hours:

Wednesday and Friday 9.15am–1.15pm. This is a permanent position during term time only.

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher or an Early Childhood qualification of Level 4 or higher
  • Hold a current first aid certificate or be willing to achieve this
  • Hold a primary teaching qualification and be prepared to undertake a Playcentre Bridging Course

  • Knowledge of ECE regulations or willingness to upskill
  • Ability to use technology
