Job summary

An established industry player is looking for a vibrant and motivated educator to join their well-resourced centre. In this role, you will support child-led play, mentor parents and whānau, and facilitate learning experiences for tamariki. Your creativity and passion will shine as you write learning stories and encourage participation in educational programmes. Qualifications

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher or an Early Childhood qualification of Level 4 or higher.

Job description

We’re seeking a vibrant, motivated, creative, and passionate educator with a sparkling personality to join our well-resourced centre to support our tamariki, parents, and whānau in facilitating child-led play.

You will work alongside our Centre whānau to open the sessions and guide activities, facilitate learning for our members and tamariki while role modeling child-led play and positive guidance.

To support whānau in the use of Te Reo Māori, encourage participation in the Playcentre Education programme to increase qualification levels at our centre, and demonstrate the benefits of participating to whānau.

Let your inner author shine writing learning stories highlighting tamariki achievements, developments, learning, and wonders while supporting whānau with exploring their light bulb moments.

We are all about mentoring and supporting parents/whānau/members/tamariki as they explore and learn with their children during these very special years.

Start: 28 April 2025

Days & hours: Monday from 9.15am to 1.15pm. This is a permanent position during school term time only.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher or an Early Childhood qualification of Level 4 or higher.
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be willing to achieve this.

Desirable skills and experience will include:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Te Whāriki and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with tamariki and adults.
  • Passion for empowering and engaging with all whānau to feel a sense of belonging in our sessions.
  • Knowledge of ECE regulations.
  • Ability to use technology.
