Job summary

Qualifications

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher or an Early Childhood qualification.
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
  • Primary teaching qualification and prepared to undertake a Bridging Course.

Responsibilities

  • Support whānau in using Te Reo Māori and facilitate child-led play.
  • Guide activities and mentor parents in the Playcentre Education programme.

Job description

We’re seeking a vibrant, motivated, creative, and passionate educator with a sparkling personality to join our well-resourced centreto support our tamariki, parents and whānau in facilitating child led play.

You will work alongside our centre whānauto open the sessions and guide activities, facilitate learning for our members and tamariki while role modelling child led play and positive guidance.

The successful candidate will support whānau in the use of Te Reo Māori,encourage participation in the Playcentre Education programme to increase qualification levels at our centre, and demonstrate the benefits of participating to whānau.

We are all about mentoring and supporting parents/ whānau /members/tamariki as they explore and learn with their children during these very special years.

Days & hours:

Monday to Wednesday 9.15am–1.15pm. This is a permanent position during term time only.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher or an Early Childhood qualification of Level 4 orhigher.
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be willing to achieve this.
  • Hold a primary teaching qualification and be prepared to undertake a Playcentre Bridging Course

  • Knowledge and understanding of Te Whāriki and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy.

  • Passion for empowering and engaging with all whānau to feel a sense of belonging on our sessions.
  • Knowledge of ECE regulations or willingness to upskill
  • Ability to use technology
