Job summary

A vibrant and motivated educator is sought for a permanent part-time role at Rangiora Playcentre, facilitating child-led play and supporting tamariki, parents, and whānau. The ideal candidate must hold relevant early childhood qualifications and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. This role offers the opportunity to mentor and empower families while participating in a rich educational philosophy.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher or an early childhood qualification of Level 4.
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
  • Primary teaching qualification and readiness to undertake a Playcentre Bridging Course.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate child-led play and positive guidance sessions.
  • Support whānau in using te reo Māori.
  • Encourage participation in Playcentre Education programme.

We’re seeking a vibrant, motivated, creative, and passionate educator with a sparkling personality to join our well-resourced centreto support our tamariki, parents and whānau in facilitating child-led play.

You will work alongside ourcentre whānauto open the sessions and guide activities, facilitate learning for our members and tamariki while role modelling child-led play and positive guidance.

The successful candidate will support whānau in the use of te reo Māori,encourage participation in the Playcentre Education programme to increase qualification levels at our centre, and demonstrate the benefits of participating to whānau.

We are all about mentoring and supporting parents/whānau/members/tamariki as they explore and learn with their children during these very special years.

Start date: 18 July 2025

Days & hours:

Friday 9am to 1pm. This is a permanent position during term time only.

We will be reviewing applications upon receipt so please apply early.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher or an early childhood qualification of Level 4 orhigher.
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be willing to achieve this.
  • Hold a primary teaching qualification and be prepared to undertake a Playcentre Bridging Course.

  • Passion for empowering and engaging with all whānau to feel a sense of belonging on our sessions.
  • Knowledge of ECE regulations or willingness to upskill.
  • Ability to use technology.
