We have an incredible opportunity to join Phoenix Group as a Service Transition and Release Manager within our Service Architecture, Design & Transition team in Technical Service Operations. Sarah Jempson will host a virtual open forum on 04/04/25 from 11:30 to 12:00 to discuss this role.

Job Type: Permanent

Location: The role can be based in Wythall, Telford, London, or Edinburgh, with a mix of office and remote work.

Salary and benefits: £55,100 – £70,000 with a 16% bonus up to 32%, private medical cover, 38 days annual leave, pension, life assurance, career breaks, income protection, volunteering days, and more.

The role:

The Service Transition and Release Manager is vital in IT Service Management, ensuring smooth transitions and successful releases of IT services into live environments. The role focuses on managing the transition of new applications and services, assessing impacts and risks, and ensuring readiness.

  • Service Transition Management: Develop plans, risk assessments, and oversee the transition of IT services. Collaborate with Service Design and Architecture, share lessons learned.
  • Release Management: Manage release cycles, ensure quality through testing and validation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work with development, operations, and business teams; participate in Change, Release, and Project CoPs.
  • Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvements; implement automation tools.
  • Governance and Compliance: Ensure adherence to ITIL/ITSM standards and policies.

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong ITIL knowledge, especially Service Transition and Release Management.
  • Understanding of Non-Functional Requirements and Test Environment Management.
  • Knowledge of DevOps and Agile practices.
  • Experience in ITSM roles focusing on service transition, release management, and service introduction.
  • Proficiency with tools like JIRA, ServiceNow, or similar.
