Service Relief Delivery Driver

We are currently seeking a Permanent Relief Service Delivery Driver at our Manchester based Depot (Little Hulton/Farnworth) to join the team of 21 Routemen.

As a relief driver, you would be supporting the Transport Manager and Servicing customers on one of our 18 pre-planned, North West and North Wales region routes. Each route will change on a daily basis, however would repeat numerous times in a year.

Explanation of Role:

Applicant must possess driving licence with 3 points or less and hold a current CPC card, and preferably experience is a similar role.

The successful candidate would normally be working Monday to Friday with enhanced rate Saturday overtime available on a rota basis.

Early Start – Early Finish - The successful candidate would need be very flexible with start times, to accommodate thechanging daily delivery schedule, set by our customers. *Most routes need to be started between 3am and 5.30am.

There are no overnight stays on routes.

Routes are planned to take 8 hours, flexibility is required, to ensure the route is completed. (Enhanced overtime will be paid)

The role requires personal loading and unloading of a 7.5t vehicle, with 10-20 roll cages. Each day is different but average is 15-30 multi-drop customers per route.

The suitable applicant for this role would be someone physically fit, and very active in their daily work routine, as only about 2 hours per day is driving.

Whilst on a customer’s premises, your role will involve the exchange of bags or cages of clean workwear for dirty workwear which is loaded onto van for site laundering,

Dependent upon the customer contract, small portable floor mats or a linen exchange service may also be required.

A daily route sheet will be provided, that contains information such as the route drop order, customers address, and postcode, and what items need to be delivered and collected from site.

As there will be customer facing elements to the role, the successful applicant will need to possess a polite and professional manner as they act as liaison between Customer and Company.

The suitable applicant will accurately complete all necessary paperwork and abide by driving regulations relating to breaks. Working time breaks are unpaid.
