Job summary

Fitch Ratings seeks a Service Reliability Engineer in Manchester to embed with development squads and drive reliability for mission‑critical services.

You will lead deployment patterns on Kubernetes, own observability, and coach engineers while shaping CI/CD pipelines and AI‑enabled operations. This hybrid role emphasizes cloud, security and platform excellence.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering across AWS and Azure.
• Proven ability to run Docker and Kubernetes in production.
• Experience supporting IIS/.NET apps and Java Spring Boot services.
• Proficient in Linux and Windows administration.
• Skilled in building CI/CD pipelines, especially GitHub Actions; Bamboo a plus.
• Scripting in Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Familiar with cloud security, IAM, secrets management, and image scans.
• Understanding of core infra: networking, storage, DNS.
• Experience with APM and telemetry tooling.

Responsibilities

• Embed with Fitch Ratings development squads to provide SRE expertise.
• Lead delivery of reliable, scalable services.
• Guide squads on Kubernetes and deployment patterns.
• Mentor associate engineers and establish best practices.
• Partner with Development and Operations to advance tooling and operational excellence.
• Architect and govern GitHub Actions CI/CD with quality gates and canary/blue‑green strategies.
• Own observability in Datadog with SLIs/SLOs, dashboards and alerts.
• Reduce incidents via telemetry‑driven automation and blameless postmortems.
• Champion AI‑enabled operations using AWS Bedrock and SageMaker.
• Establish guardrails for AI‑enabled operations adoption.
• Define and enforce cloud guardrails and security controls with Security and Risk.
• Influence roadmaps, lead complex release planning, and drive platform initiatives across CI/PE.
• Serve as escalation point and participate in L3 on‑call rotation.

Salary: £65,000 - 105,000 per year

Requirements

• Deep, hands‑on experience in SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering across both AWS and Azure
• Strong track record operating Docker and Kubernetes in production environments
• Practical, enterprise‑level experience supporting IIS/.NET applications and Java Spring Boot services
• Experience administering both Linux and Windows
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, primarily with GitHub Actions; Bamboo experience is a plus
• Ability to script confidently in Python, PowerShell, or Bash
• Experience with cloud security best practices, including IAM, secrets management, and container/image scanning
• Understanding of core infrastructure fundamentals, including networking, storage, and DNS
• Experience with APM and telemetry tooling

• Own observability in Datadog, including defining SLIs/SLOs, dashboards, alerting, and MS Teams integrations
• Reduce incidents through telemetry‑driven automation and blameless postmortems
• Champion AI‑enabled operations using AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, and Model Context Protocol for log analysis, anomaly detection, incident triage, and workflow orchestration
• Establish guardrails for AI‑enabled operations adoption
• Define and enforce cloud guardrails and security controls in partnership with Security and Risk
• Influence cross‑functional roadmaps, lead complex release planning, and drive strategic platform initiatives across CI&PE
• Serve as an escalation point and participate in the L3 on‑call rotation
