Job description

Introduction

With over 100 years of history, the Sauter Group is a global leader in developing, manufacturing, and delivering Building Management Solutions (BMS) for large-scale commercial and residential properties.

Post installation of the BMS our nationwide Service Operation provides ongoing support through routine PPMs, Callouts and additional project works.

Due to the increased demand for upgrade works and extensions to existing systems, we now have a vacancy for a Service Projects Engineer, to help deliver project works across our existing client base primarily within central London but also across some sites located throughout the southern region.

In this role you will work closely with the Project Management team and collaborate with clients and subcontractors to ensure the solution is designed and delivered to the client's requirements. As part of your primary activities, you will assist the Project Manager with day to day on site running of the projects, whilst taking responsibility for delivering the pre-commissioning and commissioning of the BMS controls for all plant and equipment integrated into the Sauter system.

Regular communication will be essential with the Project Manager to allow progress updates and feedback on any issues that may hinder the commissioning process. Upon completion of the delivered works, you will take responsibility to demonstrate the solution, train end users, and facilitate a smooth handover to the client.

To meet customer needs, flexibility is essential in this role, including delivering a reasonable amount of overtime and occasional out-of-hours work including Saturday & Sundays.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Carryout site surveys to obtain specific details on the requirements and scope of the works.
  2. Liaise effectively with clients, subcontractors, and Sauter team members and report back with any design or engineering changes or issues.
  3. Adhere to all client and company, Health & Safety procedures, and policies.
  4. Deliver pre-commissioning and commissioning activities including point-to-point checks, terminations, panel and wiring mods where required.
  5. Review, configure, and modify project software and graphics as needed.
  6. Implement panel modifications when required.
  7. Collaborate with other members of the Senior Project Manager team to meet commissioning goals and deadlines.
  8. Conduct client system demonstrations and user training.
  9. Be responsible for updating issued documentation including any amendments to wiring diagrams, panel drawings and description of operation.

What we are looking for in an individual:

  1. Minimum 3 years' experience of working in the UK BMS industry, in a BMS engineering role, typically as a service, project or commissioning engineer.
  2. Have a strong understanding of non-proprietary protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and M-Bus along with experience of IT infrastructure and networking.
  3. Is trained in modifying software and graphics on any leading BMS controls manufactures equipment. (e.g. Trend, Tridium, Distech, Siemens).
  4. Be electrically competent with the ability to understand Control Panel drawings and carryout minor panel modifications.
  5. Experienced in HVAC plant and its control operation.
  6. Highly motivated and have an ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  8. Strong organisational and administration skills to ensure all documentation is provided within the expected time frames.
  9. Accomplished problem-solving capability coupled with the ability to manage complexity and ambiguity.
  10. Ideally you will have a full UK driving licence to allow project delivery outside of the M25 as required.
