Job description

Vehicle Technician
Join our team and be part of something exceptional.

About the Role
As a Technician at Citygate, you'll play a vital role in keeping our customers safely on the road. You'll be responsible for the servicing, diagnosis, and repair of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and other brands we represent. It's more than just fixing cars — it's about building lasting relationships with customers and colleagues alike, offering expert advice, and delivering top-notch service every time.

We're looking for someone who shares our passion for quality, integrity, and teamwork — someone who takes pride in what they do and is ready to grow with us.

What You'll Be Doing

In the Workshop

  • Carry out routine maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs on a range of vehicles, including Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

  • Work efficiently and with enthusiasm in a dynamic, high-standard workshop.

  • Identify worn components and report clearly using digital health checks and customer video updates.

  • Spot and act on upsell opportunities that genuinely benefit our customers.

  • Keep your workspace clean, safe, and organised.

  • Stay up to date with technical information and training — we'll support your learning every step of the way.

Delivering Great Customer Experiences

  • Always aim to exceed customer expectations with a friendly, professional approach.

  • Take ownership of your work and customer interactions, ensuring vehicles are well cared for and returned in top condition.

  • Represent Citygate with pride — in both your appearance and attitude.

  • Communicate clearly with customers, offering advice and insight that helps them make informed decisions.

  • Handle any concerns with empathy and professionalism, seeking support where needed.

Teamwork and Communication

  • Work closely with your colleagues in the workshop and front-of-house teams to ensure a seamless service.

  • Keep service advisors and workshop control updated on progress and findings.

  • Create informative and engaging video content for customers about their vehicle's condition.

  • Share customer feedback to help us continuously improve.

Systems and Processes

  • Accurately use all diagnostic tools and systems, especially ODIS.

  • Complete all documentation and reporting with care and attention to detail.

  • Follow all company standards, legal requirements, and warranty guidelines.

What We're Looking For
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.

  • Proven experience working efficiently in a professional workshop.

  • A positive, team-first attitude with great communication skills.

  • Confident using IT systems and diagnostic equipment.

  • Strong attention to detail and a genuine pride in your work.

  • A full UK driving licence is required.

  • Experience in a main dealer or with commercial vans is a bonus, but not essential.
