Job Role: Service Manager Engineering & Maintenance
Location: RAF Waddington (On-site role)
Contract: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: Up to £40,000 depending on experience
Mainstay Recruitment are currently looking for a Service Manager to join our prestigious clients team to help play a key role in the management of critical infrastructure across the MOD estate.
TheService Manager Role
In this varied and hands-on role, youll be responsible for the effective, compliant, and timely delivery of planned and reactive maintenance, as well as small additional projects. Health & Safety and MOD-specific standards will be a core focus, and your technical expertise and leadership will help keep facilities safe, compliant, and fully operational.
Youll lead and coordinate supply chain teams, ensuring operatives are qualified, equipped, and working to high standards of quality and safety. Duties include reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements, conducting inspections, and maintaining accurate records in CAFM systems. You'll also oversee compliance with statutory regulations, including Legionella, Asbestos, and Confined Spaces, and may act as Authorised or Responsible Person.
As the main point of contact for MOD clients and end users, youll build trusted relationships, resolve issues, and manage new work requests. Youll also support budget control, risk management, and long-term maintenance planning within a framework of safe, efficient service delivery.
Key qualifications and experience include:
HNC (or equivalent experience) in Building, Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
Management-level Health & Safety qualification (e.g. SMSTS)
Proven experience delivering planned/reactive maintenance and managing small engineering or construction projects
Willingness to undertake site responsibilities such as Space or Legionella Authorised Person
Availability to participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota
Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel and Word
Commitment to ongoing professional development
