Service Manager - Holiday Support & Improvement Lead

We are looking for a Service Manager - Holiday Support & Improvement Lead to join the team who is inspired by our ethos and is excited to bring their knowledge and experience.

This is an exciting time to join The Yard and play a key role in delivering and improving our specialist services for children and young people with additional support needs.

Position: Service Manager - Holiday Support & Improvement Lead
Location: Edinburgh-based, with possibility of some home working
Salary: £32,500 per annum (full-time equivalent £40,000)
Hours: Part time (30 hours per week - must be available to work during school holidays)
Contract: Permanent

Closing Date: 09:00am, Monday 8th September
Interview Dates: Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th September

The Role

You will manage our specialised Holiday Support service for children with complex medical needs and lead organisation-wide quality assurance and improvement initiatives. This service runs during school holiday periods, excluding Christmas and New Year, (Monday-Thursday) providing care for children aged 5-18 years based at Oaklands School, Edinburgh. This service is registered with the Care Inspectorate, and we are looking for an individual to assume the role of Registered Manager.

You will:

  • Manage and develop a dedicated team, including a deputy manager, room leads, and seasonal support staff.
  • Maintain safe operating practices, including care plans, risk assessments, health & safety, child protection, and activity planning.
  • Build and maintain constructive relationships with stakeholders, including families, health professionals, schools, and local authorities.
  • Oversee budgets and contribute to the Senior Management Team's leadership of the organisation.
  • Lead on evaluation, quality assurance, and service improvement projects across all The Yard's services.

About You

We are seeking a confident, resilient, and proactive leader who can manage a regulated care service and drive quality improvements.

You will have:

  • Experience of day-to-day management of a support service.
  • A proven track record in leading and managing diverse teams.
  • Knowledge of regulated services (Care Inspectorate, SSSC) and delivering excellent inspection outcomes.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with a range of stakeholders.
  • Financial and budget management skills.
  • A relevant qualification meeting SSSC practitioner requirements (SCQF Level 7) and/or working towards Registered Manager qualification (SCQF Level 9).
  • Experience in paediatric or disability services.
  • Management team experience.
  • First Aid and/or Health & Safety qualifications.
  • Full driving licence.
