Job description

Job summary

The Service Manager is a key management role responsible for the operational delivery of all aspects of a divisional service.

The post holder will ensure effective and efficient structures are in place to meet patient care standards and manage associated risks and governance matters. The Service Manager will support the development of patient-centred services in collaboration with the Lead Nurse, meet financial and operational targets, and establish processes to deliver national and local objectives, reviewing service efficiency and effectiveness in terms of cost, improvement, and financial flow.

Main duties of the job

Key aims include:

  • Providing timely, efficient, and effective operational leadership for services within Lewisham & Greenwich, ensuring responsiveness, innovation, and high performance standards.
  • Providing clear leadership to ensure staff are well-managed, developed, engaged, and motivated.
  • Delivering quality and service improvement projects that contribute to modernising patient services.
  • Driving projects to enhance service delivery and patient experience.
  • Ensuring all performance and quality targets are met.
  • Problem-solving collaboratively with clinical colleagues and implementing lasting solutions, taking full division responsibility and keeping team members informed.
