Job Description: Service Manager - Norfolk (Norwich & Kings Lynn)

Location: Cromer Road, Norwich and Lord Nelson House, Kings Lynn

Salary: £30,000 per year

Joining Bonus: £1,000

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Service: Endurance Care Norfolk. This role covers two services and supports young adults with various circumstances including learning disabilities and mental health issues. This is a brand new service by National Care Group with a forecasted opening date in September.

The Service Manager Role

The Service Manager’s role is essential to the wellbeing and safety of the people we support and to the development of the team. You will lead by example, demonstrate safe and effective working practices, and mentor and develop individuals and staff teams in line with current legislation and best practice.

Responsibilities
  • Devise, implement and review support plans with individuals, focusing on safe and achievable outcomes and goals, reflecting the service user’s wishes.
  • Assess and develop outcome-focused risk management plans.
  • Perform audits of support plans, health action plans, risk assessments and management plans, and financial management systems where a team leader/care manager is responsible for upkeep of these documents.
  • Effectively manage your own diary to provide full support to our services.
  • Be a point of contact for all service users, their families and staff within your network.
  • Be involved in management meetings, daily office functions and represent the company when needed in public/professional domains.
  • Plan and organise meetings and communicate day-to-day issues with your manager.
  • Ensure information held about individual service users is kept securely and updated in line with the Data Protection Act 1998.
  • Support staff to work within the boundaries of their role and capabilities.
  • Be involved in fact-finding and information gathering where complaints or concerns have been raised.
  • Plan and deliver staff appraisals and supervisions, with other HR-related tasks; participate in disciplinary processes where necessary.
  • Carry out risk assessments regarding health and safety in the workplace, with emphasis on lone working practices.
  • Mentor or train staff, either in structured sessions or while working alongside them.
  • Ensure and monitor that support staff follow policies, procedures and guidance from the Employee Handbook.
  • Fully comply with Health and Social Care Act 2014, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, GSCC, Health and Social Care Regulations 2010, Safeguarding Policies and CQC standards.
  • Understand and adhere to policies as set out in the Mental Health Act 2013.
Ideal Candidate / Qualifications
  • Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or mental health conditions.
  • A minimum of Level 3 in Health and Social Care with an aim to complete Level 5.
  • Experience of managing a team including rotas, appraisals and disciplinaries.
  • Able to motivate and encourage a team successfully.
