Royal Voluntary Service has an opportunity available for a SERVICE MANAGERto join our team.You will join us on a full-time, fixed-term basis until 31 March 2026, and in return, you will receive a salary of £28,043per annum.

About the SERVICE MANAGERrole:

We are recruiting aService Manager to be based at our Cornhill Community Centre.

The purpose of the Service Manager is to take responsibility, manage and lead the Cornhill Community Centre staff and volunteers, whilst managing the provision of activities within the community centre setting, enabling clients to have access to the full centre. This role includes the day-to-day management of the centre, staff management, recruitment, training and support of volunteers, networking with key stakeholders, activities are delivered and growth of the centre, in line with Royal Voluntary Service Vision and Core Values to achieve key performance targets.

You will also manage the day-to-day maintenance and management of the building. Ensure all activities are delivered in line with any service level agreement to achieve key performance targets of the Contract, in line with the Standard Operating Guide of the Commissioned Services Operating Model and in line with Royal Voluntary Service and Health and Safety standards and policies and to ensure more people are enabled to Volunteer and that the outcomes remain person centred.

Hours: 35 hours, Monday to Friday

What you'll bring as our SERVICE MANAGER:

Knowledge

  • Knowledge and understanding of the needs of the community, local steering groups, any associated groups.
  • Commercially aware and able to build on income associated with minibus hire to the wider community.
  • Ability to read between the lines of what you are being told to get to the heart of what matters to a client
  • Ability to act on own initiative within agreed parameters.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Good organisation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to build networks across the area and work in partnership with other Third Sector Organisations in the area.
  • Ability to review and create new volunteer roles to meet the needs of the service and grow volunteering opportunities.
  • A valid driving license and access to a vehicle with business insurance (mileage paid / reimbursed)

Experience

  • Experience of working with people who are lonely or isolated and may be vulnerable
  • Experience of managing volunteers and their needs
  • Leadership and Direct line management responsibilities for local staff teams including regular objective setting and monitoring.
  • Ability to proficiently use standard IT systems – Microsoft Office/Word/Excel, client database entry and management.
