Job summary

Tesco is seeking a Mechanical Service Maintenance Technician to cover Liverpool and surrounding areas. You will maintain and repair a range of mechanical systems across Tesco stores, ensuring safety, compliance and smooth operations for customers and colleagues alike.

The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, proactive maintenance, and collaboration with site operations to deliver high standards and minimal downtime.

Qualifications

• ONC or equivalent qualification required.
• Recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 2/3 preferred.
• Full driving license required.
• Health & Safety awareness essential.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Office 365 knowledge beneficial.
• Completed technical training/upskilling modules relevant to skillset.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance and repairs on a range of mechanical systems and equipment.
• Respond to breakdowns promptly to minimise downtime.
• Conduct inspections, testing and certification to ensure compliance and safe operation.
• Document maintenance activity using digital reporting tools.
• Collaborate with site operations to minimise disruption and work safely.
• Participate in continuous improvement to enhance procedures.

You will be responsible for

Carrying out maintenance and repairs on:

• Dock Levellers
• DDLS systems
• Scissor Lifts
• Back Yard Gates (BYG’s)
• Sectional Doors
• Roller Shutters
• Rapid Roll Doors
• Pallet Stackers
• Respond to breakdowns swiftly and effectively to minimize downtime
• Conduct inspections, testing and certification to ensure compliance and safe operation
• Document all maintenance activity accurately using digital reporting tools
• Collaborate with site operations teams to ensure work is performed safely and with minimal disruption
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance procedures

You will need

Operational Skills:

• ONC or equivalent
• Recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 2/3
• Full driving license
• Health & Safety awareness
• Communication & stakeholder management
• Office 365 knowledge
• Completed all technical training upskilling modules relevant to skillset

Relevant Experience:

• Proven experience with diverse access control and lift systems
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic abilities
• Familiarity with powered doors, lifting platforms, and compacting equipment
• Understanding of safety and regulatory requirements for workplace machinery
