Job summary

Tesco is seeking an HVAC Maintenance Technician to cover Oxford, Abingdon and Banbury areas. You will maintain heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems across Tesco sites to ensure safe, energy-efficient, compliant environments.

You will diagnose faults, perform planned and reactive maintenance, and drive system performance improvements while collaborating with a skilled team and participating in ongoing training and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Full driving licence is required.
• Health & Safety awareness is essential.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency with Office 365 and digital devices.
• Level 3 City & Guilds or equivalent Mechanical Engineering qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring all Tesco sites are a safe and functioning environment for customers and colleagues.
• Following the planned work schedule to achieve first time fix, maximising productivity and effectiveness.
• Delivering high quality work standards across the estate with year-on-year improvement.
• Using problem-solving skills and innovation to identify and develop solutions for key issues.
• Own tasks at a local level through to completion/resolution, informing key stakeholders during the process.
• Using mobile devices to drive best practice in work completion and updates.
• Use business systems to drive best practice in work order reporting and asset lifecycle management.
• Supporting KPI delivery through practical application of skill sets and use of business systems.

As an HVAC Maintenance Technician at Tesco, covering our Oxford, Abingdon and Banbury areas, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping our environments comfortable, safe, and fully operational for both customers and colleagues. Your expertise in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems will ensure our stores remain energy‑efficient and compliant with safety standards.

You’ll be part of a skilled maintenance team, responsible for both planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across a wide range of HVAC systems and equipment. From diagnosing faults to carrying out repairs and optimising system performance, your work will help ensure a seamless shopping experience for thousands of customers every day.

This is a hands‑on, mobile role that requires strong technical knowledge, a proactive approach to problem‑solving, and a commitment to high standards of service and safety.
