Job summary

Tesco is looking for an Electrical Service Maintenance Technician to cover Medway stores, keeping sites safe and welcoming for customers and colleagues. You’ll perform planned and reactive maintenance on electrical systems, prioritising safety, quality and compliance in every task.

This hands-on role requires problem-solving, teamwork and proactive communication with contractors and store teams, with ongoing training and clear opportunities to grow your career within Tesco.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds Level 3 – Electrical or equivalent qualification.
• Apprenticeship/Improver programme or trade experience.
• EICR remedial works experience is desirable.
• Full driving licence and health & safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Tesco sites are safe and functioning for customers and staff.
• Follow planned work schedules to achieve first-time fixes.
• Collaborate with team members and share best practices.
• Conduct general day-to-day store and property maintenance.
• Use mobile devices to drive updates and completion status.
• Represent Tesco values and participate in meetings and feedback.

About the role

As an Electrical Service Maintenance Technician at Tesco across Medway areas, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our stores remains a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for customers and colleagues alike. You’ll be part of a skilled team responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of systems and equipment, helping to keep our operations running smoothly.

Your work will directly impact the shopping experience of thousands of customers every day. You’ll use your technical expertise to identify and resolve issues efficiently, always prioritising safety, compliance, and quality.

You will be responsible for

As a Service Maintenance Technician your specific responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks. To thrive in this role, you will need to:

• Confidently Interact with External Contractors: Coordinating repairs seamlessly.

• Minimize Customer Disruption: Coordinating repairs with minimal impact on our valued customers.

Responsibilities will include;

• Ensuring all Tesco sites are a safe and functioning environment for customers and colleagues.
• Following the planned work schedule to achieve first time fix, improving efficiency, and effectiveness.
• Working closely with team members, sharing best practice and knowledge.
• General day to day store and property maintenance.
• Using mobile devices; phone and tablet, to drive the best approach in work completion and updates.
• Representing the Tesco brand by demonstrating our core values (serving our customers, communities and planet a little better every day), maintaining a positive attitude & taking pride in wearing the Tesco uniform.
• Attending local and national meetings, providing valuable input and feedback.
• Supporting a diverse and inclusive culture.

You will need

As a vital part of our Maintenance team, you will demonstrate enthusiasm for maintaining high standards. With previous experience in a maintenance, engineering, or construction environment, you will be digitally confident using a tablet to view daily work schedules and manage emails.

Operational Skills:

• Completion of a recognised apprenticeship or improver programme or trade proficiency test / relevant trade experience
• Basic diagnostics: PCB/Microprocessor / HMI controlled systems /equipment
• Electrical Safety Circuit, - Basic Working Knowledge, fault finding and replacement.
• EICR Remedial Knowledge
• Full driving license
• Health & Safety awareness
• Communication & stakeholder management
• Office 365 knowledge

Required Qualifications

• City & Guilds Level 3 – Electrical (Or Equivalent)
• Apprenticeship/Improver programme
• EICR Remedial works experience

• City & Guilds Inspection & Testing
• ECoPs
• City & Guilds 18th Edition
