Job summary

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an analytical post within the Talking Therapies Division in Greater Manchester. The role reports to the Senior Performance Analyst and uses performance intelligence and digital tools to help services operate more effectively and inform decision-making.

The post holder will contribute to operational management, service improvement and decision-making, with a focus on SQL querying and Power BI reporting to improve access and outcomes

Qualifications

  • Relevant academic or vocational qualification relating to IT, analysis, statistics or dashboard development.
  • Experience of writing SQL queries against a data warehouse or relational database environment.
  • Experience of extracting and interrogating data to respond to information requests accurately and to deadlines.
  • Experience of validating data and ensuring data quality in reporting or data submissions.
  • Experience within a performance and information role.
  • Experience of building, or supporting the development of, Power BI or similar dashboards and reports.
  • Experience using Power Automate, Robotic Process Automation or Microsoft Copilot.
  • Experience of NHS performance and information role.
  • Experience handling FOI requests in compliance with statutory deadlines.
  • Proficiency in writing SQL to extract, combine and manipulate data.
  • Able to interpret complex data and communicate findings clearly to non-technical colleagues.
  • Strong analytical and judgement skills.

Job description

This is an analytical role within the Talking Therapies Division at Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust. Reporting to the Senior Performance Analyst, the post holder will use performance intelligence and modern digital tools to help services operate more effectively, inform decision-making and improve outcomes for people accessing Talking Therapies across Greater Manchester. Working alongside the Senior Performance Analyst, the post holder will provide performance analysis and reporting that underpins effective operational management, service improvement and decision-making across the Division, improving delivery against national targets. Through clear analysis and reporting, the role will support better access, shorter waiting times and stronger recovery outcomes for people using NHS Talking Therapies services., A particular focus of the role is writing SQL queries to extract and interrogate data in response to information requests, alongside supporting the development of Power BI reporting. Innovation and development are part of the role. The post holder will seek to make the best use of digital tools such as Power BI, SQL, Power Automate, Robotic Process Automation and AI to improve efficiency and data quality. This work supports the Trust's wider digital and data strategy.

  • Experience within an NHS performance and information role.
  • Experience of handling Freedom of Information (FOI) requests in compliance with statutory deadlines.
  • Project management training (e.g. PRINCE2)., Familiarity with emerging tools such as Power Automate, Robotic Process Automation and LLMs.
  • Understanding of analytical and statistical techniques used to measure performance in the NHS, e.g. SPC charts., Proficiency in writing SQL to extract, combine and manipulate data.
  • Able to interpret complex data and communicate findings clearly and accurately, both verbally and in writing, to non-technical colleagues and stakeholders, including through dashboards and visual reports.
  • Good organisational skills, able to plan, manage and prioritise own workload to meet deadlines.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team, sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues.
  • Able to work with a degree of autonomy, demonstrating initiative and a proactive, self-motivated approach., Working proficiency in Power BI, including dashboards, DAX and data modelling, or equivalent experience with another platform., Professional, conscientious and diplomatic approach to work.
  • Strong analytical and judgement skills.
