Overview

Our client is a well-established engineering services provider operating within the water and environmental sector. They deliver tailored maintenance and repair solutions to a diverse range of customers. With steady growth and a strong reputation for quality and reliability, they are now seeking a Field Service Engineer to join their team.

The Role

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding, and repairs on the treatment plant and pumping systems. You will ensure all equipment is serviced and maintained to a high standard, supporting long-term reliability and compliance. The role combines mechanical and electrical skills and requires someone confident working independently in the field.

Responsibilities
  • Servicing, callouts, and fault diagnosis on wastewater systems, sewage treatment plants, and pumping equipment.
  • Working with both electrical and mechanical components of installed systems.
  • Liaising with the scheduling or operations team to report progress and resolve on-site issues.
  • Providing feedback on materials, parts, and any follow-up work required.
  • Maintaining vehicle stock and tools to ensure readiness for site visits.
  • Communicating professionally with customers while on site.
  • Using a mobile device or app to manage daily schedules and job reporting.
  • Completing detailed service reports and documentation after each visit.
The Candidate
  • Previous experience in the sewage treatment or wastewater engineering industry (or a similar field-based engineering role).
  • Strong fault-finding skills in both mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Good communication skills and a proactive, can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Qualification in either mechanical or electrical engineering (preferred).
  • 17th, 18th, or 19th Edition electrical qualification (desirable, not essential).
  • CSCS card (desirable).
  • Full UK driving licence (essential).
