Job Overview

We have a fantastic new job opportunity within a dedicated Maintenance Team for a Heavy Equipment Service Engineer / Maintenance Technician / Fitter. As part of the team, your primary responsibility is to ensure that all plant and equipment are maintained to the highest standards. You will be a proactive, hands-on professional who can maximise equipment uptime, support safe operations, and deliver a best-in-class service experience for customers. The role is primarily based at the Rushden depot, with occasional travel to the Durham site as required.

Duties
  • Routine and Preventative Maintenance: Carry out routine and preventative maintenance on all plant equipment in the yard. While this is primarily at the main depot in Rushden, occasional travel to the Durham yard will be necessary
  • Documentation and Compliance: Ensure all service activities are precisely documented and adhere to ISO and Health & Safety standards
  • Quality Control: Take full ownership of the quality of all equipment leaving the yard, ensuring it is fit for purpose
  • Breakdown Response: Respond promptly to breakdowns, both in the yard and on-site, to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently
  • Technical Support: Provide first-line technical support as needed to internal teams (engineers, sales, office) and external customers
  • Yard and Stock Management: Maintain yard plant and oversee stock control, advising on parts requirements
  • Crane Handling: Assist with the safe loading, unloading, and storage of tower cranes
  • Training and Upskilling: Deliver and assist with technical training and upskilling for team members
Candidate Requirements
  • Strong background in mechanical or electrical maintenance, ideally with heavy plant or construction equipment
  • Hands-on problem solver with a “right-first-time” mindset
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to support internal and external stakeholders
  • Highly organised with a focus on quality and safety
  • Ability to work independently in a yard-based environment, with flexibility to attend site when needed
  • Experience in crane maintenance or similar plant equipment is highly desirable
