Job summary

MARCH is hiring an experienced Service Engineer to deliver field-based service across the UK. You’ll diagnose faults, perform maintenance, installations and diagnostic work on compressed air systems while managing your own workload and travel schedule.

You will build strong customer relationships, provide expert recommendations, and contribute to ongoing improvements in equipment reliability and service delivery. A proactive, safety-conscious engineer with strong IT and reporting skills is ideal.

Qualifications

  • Experience with compressed air systems, including servicing and performance optimisation.
  • Ability to diagnose faults, perform repairs, and maintain equipment.
  • Strong engineering background with relevant qualifications and ongoing professional development.
  • Professional, proactive approach and ability to work independently with customers.
  • Excellent communication and IT skills for reports and recommendations.
  • Understanding of modern service engineering and fault-finding techniques.
  • Experience with electrical, electronic and PLC-controlled systems.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose faults, perform repairs, and respond to emergency breakdowns to minimise downtime.
  • Conduct planned preventive maintenance and provide recommendations to improve performance.
  • Assist installations, commissioning and optimisation of compressed air systems at customer sites.
  • Build relationships with customers and provide technical advice as a trusted partner.
  • Identify opportunities to deliver additional value and solutions for customer needs.
  • Complete service documentation and technical reports with clear recommendations.
  • Support commissioning projects and customer training where required.
  • Work safely, carry out risk assessments and adhere to site safety requirements.
  • Provide feedback to improve products, systems and service delivery.
  • Participate in on-call rota to deliver responsive service.
  • Take ownership of company vehicle, equipment and tools for service delivery.

We're looking for an experienced and customer-focused Service Engineer to join our growing team. If you enjoy diagnosing complex faults, solving engineering challenges, and working autonomously in the field, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you'll manage your own workload while delivering exceptional service to customers across the UK.

Working on a wide range of equipment and systems, you'll utilise your mechanical and electrical expertise to carry out installations, maintenance, breakdowns, and diagnostic works on compressed air systems

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and responding to emergency breakdowns to minimise customer downtime.
  • Performing planned preventative maintenance and providing expert recommendations to improve equipment performance and reliability.
  • Supporting the installation, commissioning, and optimisation of compressed air systems at customer sites.
  • Building strong relationships with customers, providing technical advice and becoming a trusted engineering partner.
  • Identifying opportunities to deliver additional value and solutions that support customer requirements.
  • Completing service documentation and technical reports accurately, ensuring customers receive clear and professional recommendations.
  • Contributing to commissioning projects and supporting customer training where required.

Skills And Experience
  • Experience working with compressed air systems, including their controls, servicing, maintenance, and performance optimisation.
  • The ability to diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and undertake maintenance across a wide range of compressed air equipment, including screw compressors.
  • Strong technical assessment skills, with the confidence to evaluate equipment performance and recommend practical engineering solutions.
  • A solid engineering background, supported by relevant qualifications and a commitment to continuous professional development.
  • A professional and proactive approach, with the ability to work independently and represent the business positively with customers.
  • Excellent communication and IT skills, enabling you to build strong customer relationships and produce high-quality service reports and recommendations.
  • A thorough understanding of modern service engineering and fault-finding techniques.
  • Experience with electrical, electronic, and PLC-controlled systems, including testing, diagnostics, and repair.
  • A passion for delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
