Job description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen at a specialist engineering business as a Service Engineer (with an electrical bias). However, this isn't a standard service engineer job; instead, this is an opportunity to take on a diverse role combining machinery assembly and hands-on problem-solving. You will be a key part of the team, understanding the requirements of a client, helping to build prototype machines for testing, troubleshooting and then ultimately building the machine for the end client. You will then take responsibility for commissioning the machine on-site at the client's site. So there is plenty of variety in the role!!

This role is working for a smaller business, so it means that your input and efforts are truly valued and you are most certainly not just another cog in a corporate machine!! The role reports into the Engineering manager and you will be given the opportunity to provide input into proposals, help with problem-solving and ultimately help deliver the best product to the end client.

We are seeking someone with electrical knowledge and experience who can understand wiring, schematics and technical drawings.

In terms of key activities within this role:

  • Building, wiring, and testing electro-mechanical machinery in-house
  • Producing documentation, from electrical drawings to safety evaluations
  • Supporting with component repair and internal technical meetings
  • Commissioning new products and performing installations and repairs
  • Delivering training and handovers to customers
  • Carrying out pre-planned and occassional service visits to customer sites across the UK

What the ideal Service Engineer would have:

  • A relevant electrical qualification
  • 18th Edition Certification (BS 7671:2018)
  • Understanding of Machinery Regulations & BS standards
  • Hands-on mechanical skills

Why join?

This is your opportunity to join a forward-thinking engineering team where versatility, professionalism, and continuous improvement are valued. You’ll work on exciting, hands-on projects while supporting innovative customers and contributing to machinery safety and performance.
