Field Service Engineer – Warehouse Automation

A leading provider of warehouse automation solutions is seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer to support customers with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of advanced automated systems. This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology, ensuring logistics and distribution centres operate at peak efficiency.

Role Overview

The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for servicing, diagnosing, and repairing automated warehouse equipment, including conveyors, sortation systems, palletizers, robotics, and AGVs. This role requires a hands-on approach, technical expertise, and a customer-focused mindset to deliver exceptional service and support.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on automated warehouse equipment.
  2. Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and PLC-related issues.
  3. Manage spare parts sales and ordering, ensuring customers have essential components for optimal system performance.
  4. Conduct software updates and adjust parameters on warehouse automation systems.
  5. Provide on-site training and technical support to help customers maximise operational efficiency.
  6. Maintain accurate service reports, timesheets, and customer communication logs.
  7. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, performing risk assessments as needed.
  8. Collaborate with engineering and sales teams to identify system optimisations and recommend upgrades.

Candidate Profile

  1. Strong background in mechanical, electrical, or electro-mechanical engineering (formal qualifications preferred).
  2. Experience with warehouse automation systems, including conveyors, sorters, and robotics.
  3. Experience servicing industrial automation machinery, ideally in warehouse or logistics automation.
  4. Proficiency in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and PLC control faults.
  5. Ability to work independently in customer environments, managing priorities effectively.
  6. Competence with troubleshooting software and technical tools.
  7. Willingness to travel extensively, including overnight stays when required.
  8. Motivated to identify sales opportunities and earn additional commission.
