Job description

Due to company growth, our client is looking to add to their Field Service Engineers team.

As a Field Service Engineer, you will have an integral role within the service team, assisting in the delivery of the business's on-site activities. You must be able to work independently or as part of a team to meet customer expectations and achieve our company goals.

This role is a Permanent position, working Monday - Friday.

Travel throughout the island is essential. A driving license is essential with a maximum of 6 penalty points.

Responsibilities:
  1. Cover all aspects of generator servicing including oil & filter changes and oil, fuel, and coolant sampling.
  2. Conduct load bank testing on customer-owned generator units.
  3. Accurately fault-find and diagnose both mechanical and electrical issues.
  4. Work on a broad range of generator/engine brands including (but not limited to) Cummins, Perkins, Caterpillar, John Deere, Volvo, Scania, Iveco, and Dorman.
  5. Work independently on engines from 9kVA to 16MW.
  6. Complete all types of engine repairs (both mechanical and electrical).
  7. Work on batteries, battery chargers, water jacket heaters, starter cables, key switches, etc.
  8. Interrogate different control systems such as DSE, ComAp, and DEIF.
  9. Understand changeover systems.
  10. Complete or assist with mechanical engine rebuilds / top-end overhauls.
  11. Complete or assist with control panel upgrade works/retrofits.
  12. Demonstrate knowledge and experience of both mechanical and electrical skillsets.
Person Specification
Essential skills and experience:
  1. Previous experience in similar generator services companies or within the power generation industry.
  2. Ability to manage own workload and establish priorities.
  3. Experience in working effectively as part of a team as well as independently.
  4. Ability to solve problems with a positive attitude.
  5. Self-motivated and able to learn quickly.
  6. Strong attention to detail with high levels of accuracy.
  7. Willingness to undertake further training as required for professional development.
  8. Able to liaise with customers professionally and convey information.
Desirable skills and experience:
  1. Brand-specific generator training courses.
  2. Electrical qualifications – City & Guilds, 17th/18th edition.
