Job summary

Holt Recruitment Ltd is recruiting for a Field Service Engineer to cover Muir of Ord and surrounding areas. This field‑based role involves servicing, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs on construction plant machinery at customer sites.

You will travel to customer sites, diagnose faults, perform repairs and complete digital service documentation while training apprentices and supporting the service team.

Qualifications

Engineering qualification such as NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent in Construction Plant Maintenance, Heavy Vehicle, Light Vehicle, Agricultural Engineering or similar.
Experience working on construction plant, heavy equipment or similar machinery.
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, transmissions and electronic diagnostics.
Excellent fault‑finding and problem‑solving abilities.
Strong communication and customer‑service skills.
Good IT skills for completing digital service documentation.
A positive attitude with the ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
A full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

Service, maintain and repair construction plant machinery at customer sites.
Attend machine breakdowns, diagnose faults and carry out repairs.
Perform planned preventive maintenance and inspections.
Use electronic diagnostic equipment to identify electrical and mechanical faults.
Complete digital job sheets, service reports and timesheets accurately.
Order parts efficiently and liaise with the parts department to minimise downtime.
Work closely with the Service Supervisor to deliver customer support.
Assist with the training and mentoring of apprentice engineers.
Carry out workshop‑based repairs when required.
Ensure all repairs comply with manufacturer specs and health & safety standards.

Are you an experienced Plant Engineer, HGV Technician or Agricultural Engineer looking for your next challenge? We're recruiting for a Field Service Engineer to join a busy and growing service team covering Muir of Ord and the surrounding areas.

This is a field‑based role where you'll travel directly to customer sites, carrying out servicing, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs on a wide range of construction plant machinery. Every day brings something different, making this an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys problem‑solving and working independently.

About You

Experience working on construction plant, heavy equipment or similar machinery.

Strong communication and customer‑service skills.
