We are recruiting a Service Designer on a permanent basis to join a growing public sector organisation. You will be reporting to the IT Programme Manager and joining during a period of large-scale transformation.

Your new role

In this role, you will oversee end-to-end service design projects, identify emerging trends, explore data-driven improvement opportunities, and understand end-user needs to create innovative services that deliver both business impact and end-user value. You will champion user-centric design by conducting workshops to understand end-user behaviors and developing solutions aligned with strategic objectives. Responsibilities include designing, testing, and iterating prototypes, using measurable outcomes to validate hypotheses and inform future decisions, while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including product owners, developers, and operations, to co-create propositions that balance desirability, operational feasibility, and business viability.

What you’ll need to succeed

• A strong portfolio of IT service design deliverables to showcase your work
• Experience in managing complex, end-to-end service design initiatives, from research and strategy to implementation
• Ability to clearly articulate design concepts, strategies, and decisions to diverse audiences, including senior stakeholders
• Proficiency in service design methods, including user research, journey mapping, service blueprints, prototyping, and workshop facilitation
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to synthesize content into concise summaries
• This position requires a DBS check
